unwanted feelings

I'm your friend,
Nothing more.
So why do I feel something has to end,
For new beginnings, from my heart these words must pour.

Why cant I understand that I'm only your friend,
Only your friend - simply nothing more.
Please give me a sign so I can comprehend,
Just why my body and mind sense a constant allure.

This isnt right - I'm only your friend,
I repeat to myself I'm nothing more.
Stop being yourself before my hand I lend,
You smile - my present situation appears a chore.

I'm serious now - I'm only your friend,
You give no sign but theres something more.
The simplest things make it hard to pretend,
I realise now we're only friends - however what I need,
